A devotional scapular is a sacramental made of two small pieces of wool cloth connected by string that is worn over the neck, either under or over clothing, such that one piece hangs over the chest, and the second piece hangs over the back. Derived from the scapulars that make up part of monastic’s religious habits, scapulars are devotional objects that show the wearer's faith and commitment to a confraternity, a saint, or a way of life.
This is a necklace composed of two circular pieces: one made of silver, which represents blind faith and is meant to be worn at the front, at the level of chest and close to heart. The second piece, made in black leather and hanging at the back, represents doubt. However, both pieces can also be worn together at front, as one perfectly cradles the other, sometimes reconciling the ever-present conflict between doubt and faith.
