Ammonites are an extinct group of marine animals that disappeared along with the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. They are excellent index fossils, and it is often possible to link the rock layer in which they are found to specific geological time periods. They represent the relativity of time and can be seen as doors to the past.
The cross section of an Ammonite is one of the best examples of the Golden section in nature: the famous proportion that represents balance and beauty in arts and architecture. I have used ammonites to represent my personal faith in time, nature and beauty: the elements that move and inspire me.
