Faith or Pain

A ring inspired by the cilice, a piece of garment or adornment worn at various times in the history of the Christian faith that causes corporal torment to whomever dares to wear it. Used for the purposes of the mortification of the flesh or as penance for adorning themselves and to prevent flesh temptations and to reincarnate the suffering of Jesus Christ. Cilice wearers have been questioned along history: are they so faithful or is pain also enjoyable?

When the ring is worn with the nail drawn to the palm, one can show a beautiful adornment and, at the same time, pay the price of doing so with a hidden torment that breaks the skin and strengthens the soul. The real motive “faith or pain" is only known by the wearer and it is as intimate and hidden as the cilice itself.
