ARTEFACTOS DE LA FE

Faith and ornaments are two subjects that Latin America is very familiar with. Latin America is a continent with a centenary gold and silversmithing tradition. The combination of prehispanic and European techniques have produced jewellery that is well known around the world. Faith in Latin America, on the other hand, is inevitably associated with religion. Even when the leadership of the Catholic Church is evident, most Lating American people practice a syncretic religion that integrates traditional beliefs into Catholicism.

This provides a rich but controversial theme for a group of designers who have crafted a collection of ornaments that explore the subject of faith and express the diversity of religious and personal beliefs that coexist in Mexico. The presentation of this collection on this site is a prelude to the efforts of OTRO DISEÑO to circulate the exhibition "Artefactos de la Fe" in Mexico and Latin America.
