Trelice Kitchen
Trelice Kitchen
The Trelice Kitchen is a cooperation project between Op 16 and Joana Meroz. The counter top is made of corian produced by Erbi. The front and back panels of the kitchen are covered with Trelice Tiles from the Ornamented Life Collection. The cement used in-between the tiles clearly becomes the focus of attention in the Trelice Tiles, rather than the tiles themselves. After all, here the cement covers more surface area than the tiles! In order to determine the extent of the impact of the change in colour of the cement, in this tile panel the most basic of colour combinations is used: black and white. The tiles are glazed with a modest silky off-white and therefore don’t ask too much attention. At the same time it allows for enough contrast to be present between the tiles and the cement. Half of the panel is filled with white cement, and the other half with black. Thus, the visual impact of the colour of the cement used is starkly evident in determining the general atmosphere that the Trelice Tiles exude.
Op 16 is a Dutch company founded by Lucia King that produces custom made kitchens and furniture in a clear and functional design.
