DAY OF THE DEAD
DESIGN DINNER & EXHIBITION
NOVEMBER 2006 PLATFORM 21, AMSTERDAM Otro Diseño invites Mexican and Dutch designers to create design products that make reference to the traditional Mexican Day of the Death. In a project that has become a tradition to celebrate the Mexican Day of the Dead in the Netherlands, Mexican and Dutch designers working together to create a unique exhibition that combines the traditional elements of the Mexican altars for the Day of the Death and the Dutch still lives. The exhibition, presented in Platform 21, features 50 design products from Dutch and Mexican designers, like the original 'Portable Altar' by Maruicio Lara of the 'Slow Lamp' made by Next Architects for Droog Design. Along with the exhibition, Otro Diseño and the chef Koen van Boschut from the Restaurant Club 11 have organized an impressive Design Dinner with a menu inspired of the authentic Mexican dishes for the Day of the Death. |
