I grew up in a family where needlework, embroidery, knitting and making lace were of great importance  when women spend time together. These skills are for that reason of great importance for me. It was interesting to give a hard material the illusion of being thin and fragile. And Gladys, a limited edition, laser cut metal, white lacquered bowl was born. Gladys bowl is an industrially made product but it is also are a tribute to arts and craft.

Charming Unit, founded by Louise Hederstrom, creates graphic design and product design.  We consider good design to be when a product speaks for itself. When you understand the intended use of a product without it being over-explicit. There should be a direct communication between the user and the product so that you are attracted by it and tempted to use it in the correct way. Ideally the product shall challenge your imagination and originate a dynamic contact with the user so you experience something and start to think.
