Inspired by the Art of Origami the Lotus Lampshade is made from just one single sheet of fabric, uses no glue, wires or support except itself. Available in plain white, pierced or patterned, the shade is made of mixed fiber felt. It neatly folds flat into an envelope for easy shipping. "....the inspiration came from Japanese Origami flowers... as in Origami the way the object is made is clearly visible and transparent, the strings that tie it together are essential to both the construction and the simple beauty of it, just as the folds of the paper are in Origami....."

Studiomold was founded in 2003 by Italian/British design partners Vanessa Battaglia and Brendan Young. Based in Cambridge, working on a variety of projects ranging from sculptures, furniture and lighting to landscapes, interiors and graphics. Often playful, charming and environmentally friendly, the studio's designs are born from ongoing research into the way we live, the diversity of forms, functions and cultures.
