Bed Box
A Bed Box is made of beehive cardboard and is symmetric in shape. When opened, unfolded, it reveals a
bed and the necessary accessories to spend the night. The flaps of the box form the bed surface upon
which the mattress unfolds. A little board which can be inserted into a crack in the side of the box
functions as a simple table, that can be useful while sitting on the open flap of the box. The architecture
of the box enables different formations and when two of such open boxes are placed mirror like by each other,
a double bed-nest is created. This box is an art object while closed and a temporary / mobile private space when open.
"We can see a new concept for a hotel being based on this box... where the new guest simply
rents a box and places it as he wishes in a large sheltered open & shared space. The sleeping
experience is then seasoned with a social aspect since contact with fellow neighbor loggers
can then be easily made. After all, in a mobile society when one finds him or herself in a
new environment, the physical architecture of one’s temporary shelter is not what makes him
feel at home but the social network he created."
